In the heart of the town, the Oberthur park, named after its founder, François-Charles Oberthur, was designed by Denis Buhler, the famous landscape gardener who imagined Le Thabor, also in the same area. Created in 1863-1864, the park was originally reserved for the sole use of the Oberthur family but became the property of the town of Rennes in 1960. It was opened to the public on 27th May 1977. Paths, a lake with ornamental banks, architectural elements, resting place, accessible lawns and wooded thickets blend harmoniously together making this a remarkable place to walk through. The Oberthur park is of botanical interest.
