This scribe owes his fame to his realism, accentuated by the good conservation of his polychromy and the mystery surrounding his discovery. But it is above all his eyes that fascinate: encrusted with rock crystal, his eyes possess an astonishing power of life. The particular care taken with this sculpture suggests that it is a very high dignitary of the Old Kingdom.
